Chamfering the leading edge of a brake pad sounds good to me, on a car or motorcycle. And you're right, purging brake fluid in any automotive system is good maintenance practice every few years or so. It will carry out contaminants, thus reducing internal corrosion of brake cylinder parts. I believe automotive brake fluid is hygroscopic, this being the basis for the eventual onset of internal corrosion.
Before I was married I drove my '68 327 cu. in. 350 HP 'vette' across the U.S. The trip totalled 8400 miles @ 13 mpg. with a total fuel cost of $255 running premium gasoline. Today this cost is representative of a motorcycle . . . maybe!
